This 1956 Vogue pattern is for a One
Piece Dress #8990. This is a preprinted pattern in a size 18 with a 38" bust and
a 40" hip. The original price was $.75. This vintage sewing pattern is an original - we do
not sell reproductions or copies.
Vintage sizing is smaller than today's sizing. It is best to
ignore traditional sizing altogether and simply order the pattern by bust size
as any necessary alterations are usually easier in other areas of the garment.
The back of this 1950s vintage pattern has this description:
"Slim two piece skirt has a released pleat at centre back and joins the blouse at
waistline..." I've included a scan of the back of the envelope so you can see all
the details. The instructions are included with this pattern, and the 1956 date
is included on the instruction sheet.
This vintage pattern is in great condition. The
envelope shows only minimal wear, and the pattern pieces are in great condition.
The original owner treated her patterns very carefully!
